Could SED Technology be the next Plasma?

Looking into new display technologies uncovers a technology that very well could revolutionize the industry. Canon and Toshiba are touting technology with contrast ratios not in the hundreds but in the tens of thousands to one, and viewing angles of a complete 180. These are awefully impressive numbers, but I would much rather see one in action. The Techno geek in me is screaming “GIVE ME ONE, ALREADY!!!!” , but I suppose I’ll have to wait until later this year or early next year like everyone else. Read this article at beharware.com with Pics The technology that makes these displays possible is a combination of older, well establihed technologies. These older technologies will make it possible for the new SED displays to be cheaper on the front end of production because there will be less research and development costs, and the materials are relatively inexpensive. If these circumstances hold true then we could be looking at displays better AND cheaper than plasma displays. You can click here to read a technical description of SED technology from Canon.
